Foundations Through Relationships

Interpersonal connections rooted in respect & reliability

An integral piece of our commitment to our students, families, and community is creating a healthy balance between independence and interpersonal relationships. Equally important as academic rigor, is the social and emotional wellness and awareness within our students and staff. Building strong leaders begins with healthy and caring relationships. We grow more by working together than we do by working apart.

Developing social and emotional wellness

The importance of social and emotional health goes beyond encouraging confidence. It is developing a child's capacity to form secure relationships, experience and regulate emotions, and to engage in exploration and learning. At New Foundations, we have been integrating this ethos of wellness into our practice since 2000. By creating a safe environment conducive to growth, students and staff alike are able to be vulnerable, take risks, give and provide feedback, and work through hard conversations. The way we treat and work with others is a reflection on how we feel about ourselves.

Collaboration over competition

Building a strong community begins with celebrating our diversity and connecting over the common goals which bind us. By being reliable, caring, and respectful individuals we can reap the many benefits of collaborating over competing. Honing in and understanding the unique gifts we each offer makes us stronger together. Empowering the self-esteem of each individual encourages a greater understanding and outcome for the whole.

Relationships built to last

By reflecting within ourselves, we can be better for others and more able to foster an environment built upon lasting friendships and partnerships, which often last beyond graduation.  The safety and security in the relationships students build with mentors, teachers, and coaches within the school and greater community are essential to their development and maturity.  Overcoming obstacles together is at the core of connection and growth.  Whether the relationship is within or with others, a healthy social and emotional consciousness is essential to lasting success.
